The launch event —the first launch event I ever hosted!— went off without a hitch! (Okay, maybe there were a few hiccups, and one late guest host, but nothing that ruined the day.) I was so happy with the turn out and with the interaction. Next step is getting all of the giveaways sent out!
Right now, it’s only available through Amazon. Once I graduate next month, I’ll focus on getting the book into more venues, both online and brick-and-mortar. I’ve heard of a few local bookshops that supposedly prefer to stock their shelves with self-published books, so maybe I can get into one or two of them! Also, Barnes & Noble has a POD program, similar to Amazon’s CreateSpace, so I will definitely be putting the book in there.
For everyone that supported me through this process, I can’t thank you all enough. I’m so amazed at the outpouring of love and support. I can’t wait to see where the book goes.
The last thing I want to mention is reviews. If you’ve read the book, whether you purchased it or got it as a gift or borrowed it from a friend, please go on the Amazon and Goodreads listing and put in a little something. It doesn’t have to be five stars, it doesn’t have to be glowing, it just has to be honest. As a self-published author, reviews are the best form of advertisement. Amazon has special algorithms that factor in reviews, the more reviews there are, the more visibility the book receives. And when people are looking for something new to read on Goodreads, they rely on an abundance of reviews to pick a book they’ll really enjoy.
Thank you all for everything. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
