About the Book
The idea of There’s No Such Thing As People was born in 2008, while trying to convince my own little monster that there was nothing to be afraid of in the dark or in the closet. After what seemed like an eternity of waking up in the middle of the night to calm an almost hysterical child, we began “monster hunting,” where we would creep around the house just before bedtime, checking every room and closet for a monster. Eventually, the character Little Monster sprang into being as I told my son about a monster that was “just as scared of you as you are of him.” We still dealt with night troubles for some time after, but this story has always been a favorite of his, and his brothers after him. It took a few years of researching and not knowing what to do, but we finally found a way to budget for amazing illustrations to self-publish. I am so excited to see this finally brought to life for my little monsters, and so happy I get to share it with others!
